Abstract
The study was carried out between August and December 2023 in the rural property Llartawuy Uju, with the objective of characterizing the environmental situation and proposing technologies to improve the high Andean grasslands. The "Transect by step" method was used together with evaluations of the Margalef Index and Shannon Index. The results indicated that the "Bofedal" type grasslands have deep soils while the "Pajonal de llama ichu" grasslands are shallow, with regular and poor environmental conditions respectively. Limitations were identified as the lack of water management for irrigation, excessive animal stocking and the absence of boundary delimitation. External factors include limited technical assistance and access to credit for alpaca farmers. Among the potentialities are water sources and the suitability of the bofedal for alpaca grazing. It is proposed to implement technologies such as rustic canals for minor irrigation, closure of degraded pasture areas, management of portable alpaca roosts, and construction of mini water reservoirs with pressurized irrigation systems. These measures are considered viable to improve alpaca breeding conditions in the region in the short, medium and long term.
